Inland Water Ways Network
Inland waterways ports infrastructures in Central Corridor are Lake Victoria, Lake Tanganyika, Lake Kivu and Rivers within the corridor. Most of these inland ports were built around 1930s. The ports are currently undergoing significant modernization to improve the capacity to handle more cargo.
The following are the major Ports on Lake Victoria:
1. Mwanza North and South Ports – Tanzania
2. Kemondo Bay – Tanzania
3. Musoma Port – Tanzania
4. Jinja Port – Uganda
5. Port Bell – Uganda
The following are the major Ports on Lake Tanganyika:
1. Bujumbura Port – Burundi
2. Kalemie Port – DRC
3. Kalundu Port – DRC
4. Moba, Mushimbakie/Baraka – DRC
5. Kigoma Port – Tanzania
6. Karema, Kasanga, Kapiri, Kagunga Ports – Tanzania
The Ports on Lake Kivu include the following:
1. Goma Port – DRC
2. Bukavu Port – DRC
3. Rusizi Port – Rwanda
4. Karongi – Rwanda
5. Rubavu – Rwanda
