On Thursday, February 26, 2026, His Excellency the Minister of Infrastructure, Social Housing, Transport, and Equipment of Burundi, accompanied by a Burundian delegation, visited the site of the plot of Burundi at Kwala Dry Port in the United Republic of Tanzania, together with the Permanent Secretary from the Ministry of Transport of Tanzania, the Executive Secretary of the Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency (CCTTFA), and H.E. the Ambassador of Burundi to Tanzania.
During the visit, discussions focused on the comprehensive site development system, under the coordination of the Central Corridor, aimed at ensuring the protection, proper preparation, and long-term sustainability of the infrastructures to be constructed at the site.
The Kwala Dry Port, serve as an extension of the Port of Dar es Salaam, it is a strategic infrastructure for the Central Corridor. By enabling cargo consolidation, faster clearance, and improved logistics management closer to inland markets, the facility will help reduce congestion at the port, shorten cargo dwell time, and ultimately lower transit time and transportation costs for Burundi and other Central Corridor users
