The Central Corridor Secretariat had the honor of hosting a high-level delegation from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of the Republic of Germany. The delegation, led by Dr. Thomas Helfen, Head of Division – Coordination of Operations in Africa, African Union, engaged in productive discussions on ongoing and future initiatives within the Central Corridor.
Key highlights of the discussions included:
1. The transformation of the Central Corridor from being merely a transit transport corridor to a Green Economic Development Corridor, aimed at value addition based on enhancing infrastructure development, trade efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
2. The tripartite collaboration between the Central Corridor, GIZ, and AUDA-NEPAD, reinforcing efforts to drive sustainable transport and trade facilitation.
3. Strengthening regional and continental cooperation in line with Africa’s economic and infrastructure development aspirations.
This engagement reaffirms the Central Corridor’s commitment to advancing sustainable trade, efficient logistics, and green infrastructure for the social economic benefit of the region.
