The 2nd Tanganyika Investments and Business Forum took place from May 9th -11th, 2022 in Kigoma Tanzania bringing delegates from the host Tanzania, Burundi, DRC, Rwanda and Zambia who all use Lake Tanganyika to transport people and cargo. The forum was hosted by Kigoma Regional Commissioner Hon. Thomas Andengenye on behalf of H.E. President Samia Suluhu Hassan with the theme “Our Borders to Strengthen Trade and Sustainable Investments”.

Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency (CCTTFA) participated in the event and the Executive Secretary Adv. OKANDU OKONGE Flory presented on Infrastructure Development across the East Africa region. On his presentation he recommended that Kigoma to be a regional hub for distribution and consolidation centre. Some of the prerequisites the Executive Secretary recommended include speeding up of the Kigoma port rehabilitation, fully operationalize Katosho dry port & dedicate weekly block train to Kigoma on the Meter Gauge Railway (MGR) once fully operational.

   

Through the Tanganyika Investment and Business Forum CCTTFA was able to showcase the regional infrastructure projects it is currently overseeing in the member states on inland waterways (Lakes Tanganyika, Victoria and Kivu Integrated Transport projects), roads (Multinational Tanzania Burundi road project – Kasulu-Manyovu/Rumonge-Gitaza; Uvira-Bukavu road project) and railways (Uvinza-Musongati-Gitega-Kindu SGR project, Dar-Kigali SGR project).
