On the 10 October, 2023 CCTTFA Executive Secretary Adv. OKANDJU OKONGE Flory participated in a Bilateral Meeting between the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Zambia to address trade matters at Tunduma-Nakonde One Stop Border Post, Tanzania side. The bilateral meeting was convened in accordance to directives by the tow country’s Heads of State HE. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of United Republic of Tanzania and H.E. Mr. Haikande Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia.
The meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Hashil T. Abdallah, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Industry and Trade, URT and Mrs. Lillian S. Bwalya, Permanent Secretary – Trade, Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry Zambia. Tanzania’s Permanent Secretary for Transport and CCTTFA Board Member Prof. Godius Kahyarara was also in attendance.
The meeting considered trade matters among them, Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs) that hamper the smooth flow of trade between the two countries. The meeting deliberated on 24 NTBs out of which 8 were resolved and decisions were made on how to resolve the remaining 16 NTBs.
