Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency (CCTTFA), the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), Giz through their Support to Green Infrastructure Corridors for Intra-African Trade and Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) held a 2-day Technical Working Group on NAMA Support Project for the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) in Tanzania on the Central Corridor.

Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA) facility provides financial support for implementing national climate strategies in developing countries and emerging economies. The objective of the NAMA Facility Support Project is to advance infrastructure project development in Central Corridor with focus on climate-resilient & low carbon infrastructure.

The support is for the Tanzania SGR between Dar es Salaam & Matukupora through targeted measures aimed at effective modal shift road-to-rail & climate friendly first and last mile connection between stations and centers of economic activity and residential areas. The working group comprises of various stakeholders led by Tanzania Ministry of Works and Transport (MoWT), Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC), Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA), Vice President’s Office Department of Environment, DART, TPA, Yapi Merkezi, LATRA, NEMC, & UDART.
