The Central Corridor Stakeholders Consultative Committee (STACON) Meeting took place from April 16th to 17th, 2024, at the JOHARI ROTANA Hotel in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Attendees included representatives from various public and private sectors across CCTTFA member States dealing with trade, industrialization, and transport. Additionally, the meeting saw the participation of CCTTFA’s new members, Malawi and Zambia, as well as officials from GIZ and AUDA NEPAD.
The STACON meeting is an important platform for participants from various sectors to collaborate to address key challenges and explore opportunities for the development and enhancement of the Central Corridor. The meeting focused on the Central Corridor Transport Observatory Performance Report 2023 and the Countries’ priority actions and projects aimed at overcoming logistical obstacles, streamlining trade procedures, and optimizing the corridor’s efficiency and efficacy.
The inclusion of Malawi and Zambia, as newcomers to the CCTTFA, represents a notable milestone in expanding the scope of regional cooperation. Their presence signifies an increasing acknowledgment of the Central Corridor’s potential to foster economic growth and promote deeper integration among neighboring nations.
On 17 April 2024, STACON participants were given the chance to experience a journey on the newly constructed Electrified Standard Gauge Railway, a project underway by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, spanning from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro. The participants expressed appreciation for this significant infrastructure advancement and urged fellow member states to explore potential links with the Tanzania SGR.
