CCTTFA Executive Secretary Adv. OKANDJU OKONGE Flory while attend while attending the Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi, Kenya participated in a panel discussion themed “Financing Climate Resilience Infrastructure and Green Transition for Africa”. He talked about the Uvinza-Musongati-Gitega SGR & the Uvira-Bukavu road projects reflecting on challenges faced in accessing climate finance for regional resilient and green infrastructure projects. The Executive Secretary shared his experience with the audience on coordinating regional infrastructure projects with a focus on accessing climate funding and highlight the gaps and opportunities in accessing climate funds in infrastructure projects.
The overall objective of the panel discussion was to entice stakeholders’ commitment towards green infrastructure projects in African countries and present a climate appraisal method (Service Delivery Mechanism Green Track Methodology) that seeks to make projects more climate-resilient and carbon-neutral with the aim of mobilizing climate finance. The panel discussion was hosted by the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), who presented the key aspects of the Service Delivery Mechanism (SDM) Green Track Methodology, and illustrated its application to a Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) project that can be considered for presentation to climate financiers.
