CCTTFA from March 6-7 2023 participated in the Tanzania-Rwanda Business Forum and Consultation Workshop organized in partnership with Tanzania High Commission in Rwanda and Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA). CCTTFA Executive Secretary represented the Secretariat at the forum and gave opening remarks emphasizing firstly the fortified business relations between the two Central Corridor Member States as well as increased utilization of Dar Port and Central Corridor by Rwanda business community.
In his remarks the Executive Secretary also addressed major projects CCTTFA is implementing in Rwanda to improve trade facilitation including the Digital Measurement of Border Performance at Rusumo OSBP where we are working together with Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) to ensure seamless processes to improve efficiency, reduce delays and costs. In addition, we are supporting the Capacity building of Maritime cadets to operate vessels on the water bodies of the Central Corridor and Railways Engineers.
On the outskirts of the Business Forum, the Executive Secretary had the privilege of engaging with H.E. Prof. Manasseh Nshuti Rwanda Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in charge of East African Community who was the Guest of Honor. The Executive Secretary briefed him on CCTTFA implemented projects in Rwanda that are focused in improving trade facilitation along the Central Corridor for the benefit of Member States.
CCTTFA also participated in a panel discussion “Enhancing Business Performance through Central Corridor” represented by our Director Customs & Trade Facilitation Mr. Frank Ngoga. Discussions centered on major improvements at Dar port and along the Central Corridor with participants given an opportunity to have their burning queries answered.
