Under the facilitation of the Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency (CCTTFA), on 19 July 2022 the first Bilateral Ministerial Meeting took place in Kalemie, their Excellencies Prof. MAKAME MBARAWA and Cherubin OKENDE SENGA, respectively Minister of Public Works and Transport of the United Republic of Tanzania and Minister of Transport, Ways of Communications and Opening-up of the DRC signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the joint development of transport infrastructure on the enhancement of bilateral trade between the two countries via Lake Tanganyika. They instructed the heads of the technical institutions of the DRC and Tanzania to prepare the terms of reference, implementation roadmaps and budget for the implementation of these projects.
On 09 November 2022 the second Bilateral Ministerial Meeting was held at Julius Nyerere International Convention Center in Dar es Salaam, The Meeting was attended by Hon. Prof. MAKAME MNYAA MBARAWA (MP), Minister of Works and Transport of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. ALEXIS GISARO MUVUNYI, Senior Minister of Infrastructures and Public Works of The Democratic Republic of Congo and Hon. CHERUBIN OKENDE SENGA; Minister of Transport, Ways of Communication and Opening up of The Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Ministers took note of the Report of the Joint Steering Committee for Joint development of Transport Infrastructure projects and endorsed the Implementation Proposal and its Annexes for the development of Transport Infrastructure for Strengthening Bilateral Trade between Tanzania and DRC.
Their Excellencies the Ministers Thanked the Executive Secretary of the Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency Adv. OKANDJU OKONGE FLORY for Organizing the Meeting and Reiterated the Mandate to Coordinate the Program at Regional Level.
