Under Transport, Policy and Planning CCTTFA provides capacity-building support for the Maritime sector of all Member States by training and ensuring Cadet Officers are trained and certified as Officers in charge of a Navigational and Engineering Watch. The support ensures that Member States create a critical pool of Maritime Experts to support the CCTTFA vision of being a Competitive and Sustainable Trade Route of Choice.
In 2017 a total of 10 students, two from each Member State. After 5 years of training and internship all the officers finally graduated as class 3 Officers of Navigation and Engineering Watch, the Graduation was held on Monday, 28th November 2022, at Serena hotel in Dar es Salaam.
Tanzania Minister of Transport and Works Hon. Professor Makame Mnyaa Mbarawa as the Guest of Honor, Burundi Minister of Transport Capt. Dieudonne Dukundane, Central Corridor Member States’ Ambassadors and former CCTTFA Executive Secretary, CCTTFA Board Members and Development Partners were among those present at the ceremony.
According to the Executive Secretary of CCTTFA, Adv. Flory Okandju, support for capacity building in the maritime sector of member states and ensuring well-trained and certified officers for the proper regulation of the maritime industry remains its priority, hence technical and financial support has been made available to modernize the sector and make it a competitive and sustainable trade route of choice.
The second intake will start in January 2023 with 15 students, 3 students from each member State of the Central Corridor.
