Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo – 12 March 2026

The Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency (CCTTFA) marked a significant milestone in advancing regional trade and logistics with the signing of the Concession Contract for the development of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Dry Port at Kwala, Tanzania.

The Executive Secretary of CCTTFA witnessed the historic signing ceremony held in Kinshasa, which formalized the partnership between the Government of the DRC and Boston Developers Ltd for the implementation of the project.

The agreement was signed by H.E. Jean Pierre Bemba, Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Ways of Communication and Opening Up, on behalf of the Government of the DRC, and Mr. Nilax Bhatt, Chief Executive Officer of Boston Developers Ltd. The signing marks the official commencement of the project’s implementation phase.

The project entails the development of a 45-hectare dedicated logistics terminal for the DRC within the larger 502-hectare Kwala Dry Port complex, located in Kibaha District in the Coast Region of Tanzania, approximately 60 kilometres from the Port of Dar es Salaam.

Once operational, the DRC Dry Port at Kwala will function as a strategic inland logistics hub for Congolese cargo. The facility is expected to significantly reduce congestion at the Port of Dar es Salaam by relocating part of the cargo handling process inland. It will also enhance cargo clearance efficiency and facilitate faster, more reliable transportation of goods to the eastern and southern regions of the DRC.

Developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the project will be financed and operated by Boston Developers Ltd. It represents a major step forward in strengthening multimodal logistics infrastructure and promoting efficient transit transport along the Central Corridor.
