The key activities of the Customs & Trade Facilitation Program include:

  • Support to maintain a stakeholder profile database
  • Support the setup of a comprehensive database of on-going and planned projects
  • Support the preparation of project summary sheets and due diligence on proposed projects to Board
  • Support the preparation of research, position and policy drafts to guide decision makers
  • Participate in monitoring of a progress on corridor related projects developed under other agencies and suggest interventions that would support its success
  • Participate in coordination and following up after prioritization of agreements
  • Participate in policy advocacy and promotion for reforms
  • Support the creation of responsiveness performance indicators Service charter
  • Support the maintenance of continuous dialog with private sector (business, industry, and investors)
  • Support the development of continuous dialog with public sector
  • Simplification, rationalization, harmonization, standardization and modernization of trade business processes and documentation;
  • Rationalization and minimization of trade transaction costs;
  • Promotion of private sector participation in policy formulation and implementation of activities relating to trade and transport facilitation;
  • Improving industry service standards and encouraging self regulation; and
  • Harnessing ICTs towards a smart Corridor.
